Seven Reasons for Selecting the Best Quality Foods

Have you ever wondered if a low fat raw vegan (LFRV) diet will give everything you need to be healthy?  Will you get enough protein?  Will you get enough calcium?  Will you get enough vitamins and minerals?  The answer is yes, a LFRV diet will give your body everything it needs to be healthy.  A low fat raw vegan diet contains only quality foods – whole, ripe, raw, fresh, fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds.

  1. The best quality foods are nontoxic.  Only fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds are virtually toxin free.
  2. The best quality foods should be eaten in their whole, ripe, fresh, raw, natural state.  Fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds can be easily eaten uncooked and taste great raw.  Ask yourself if the food you are about to eat could be a meal by itself.  If it doesn’t sound like something you would want to do, think twice about eating it.  While an onion or garlic can be eaten raw, would you want to make a meal of them?
  3. The best quality foods should be easily digested when eaten alone or in proper combinations.  Our ideal foods require a minimum amount of energy for digestion and assimilation.  Fruits whose digestible portions of water and sugar require little digestion and are rapidly assimilated make them the easiest of all foods to digest.
  4. The best quality foods must provide adequate protein.  Proteins are broken down by the body into amino acids before being assimilated.  The body needs only 20 to 30 grams of protein every day because is recycles 200 to 300 grams of proteinaceous wastes that it maintains in the amino acid pool.  The amino acids are used as needed.  A diet of fruits vegetables, nuts and seeds contain adequate protein to meet these needs.
  5. The best quality foods must provide adequate vitamins and minerals.  Whole, raw, fresh, ripe fruits contain the highest amount of vitamins compared to other foods while whole, raw, fresh vegetables contain the highest amount of minerals.  Eating a diet of mainly fruits and vegetables will provide an abundant supply of vitamins and minerals.
  6. The best quality foods are fiber rich and contain sufficient water.  Whole, raw, ripe, fresh fruits are highest in water content of any food while vegetables are highest in fiber of any food.  A LFRV diet will supply you with all of your needed fiber and most all of the water you need.
  7. The best quality foods will meet your caloric needs.  The greatest need for our bodies is fuel, which is glucose or simply sugar.  Fruits, which are carbohydrates, are high in simply sugars, which are easily converted to glucose, the body’s primary fuel source.

In summary, the best quality foods are whole raw plant foods eaten in their natural state with minimal processing.  There is no need to eat anything else.
